Half Dome in winter
Half Dome, the iconic granite rock formation in Yosemite National Park, undergoes a breathtaking transformation during the winter months. The familiar silhouette of Half Dome, known worldwide for its majestic presence in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, takes on a new and enchanting appearance when blanketed in a layer of snow. Half Dome is named aptly for having a sheer face on one side and rounded on all the other sides.
As the crisp winter air descends upon Yosemite, Half Dome becomes a spectacle of contrasts. The stark white snow with evergreen trees dotting the landscape contrasts with the dark greys on the sheer side of the rock, creating a stunning visual display against the backdrop of the clear blue winter skies. For those fortunate enough to witness Half Dome in winter, the experience is nothing short of magical.
